Should I apply?

You can succeed in this course even if you’re a complete coding beginner.  Here is how we achieve a huge 97% bootcamp graduation success rate.

We encourage prospective students to try coding before you commit to study, so you know that this is really what you want to do. We recommend checking out Codeacademy or FreeCodeCamp to try your hand at JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

The first 10 weeks of study with us is called Foundations and this gives you time to grasp entry level coding concepts and get up to speed with basics before going into the 28 week intensive part of the part-time programme.

We offer very high levels of facilitator support, and we offer our Human Skills sessions and 1:1 on-going check in’s with you to ensure you’re fully supported along the way. Classes are small - around 20 so you get a lot of 1:1 support in your online learning environment.

Our facilitators are masters at gearing the curriculum to you and how you learn. A lot of our students tell us they are visual learners, and learn by doing, especially our neurodiverse students.  So we gear our teaching toward this style of learning and because of our high student teacher ratios, we can adapt to you specifically.

The practical, “learning through doing” and intense nature of the course and curriculum exceeds what most people think is possible to learn so quickly. We create a highly supportive, highly challenging, and deeply holistic educational experience that makes it possible for you to make major life and career transitions in a very short period of time.

Student fees

Graduate in 46 weeks as a Web Developer without University debt

Our part-time course fees are $12,497

If you are a first-time learner, or your first tertiary education was covered by the Targeted Training and Apprenticeship Fund, you may be able to get all of your fees covered under the Government's “Fees Free” scheme. It covers fees for up to $12,000 for your Dev Academy study.

Find out if you're eligible here using your NSN (National Student Number)

In 2025 there are some changes for Fees Free. The changes are that when you enrol you will need to organise payment of your fees with us, via a student loan. Then when you complete your qualification you make a claim through the IRD website and your fees are refunded back to you. This portal will be available from 2026 onwards.

If you’re not eligible for Fees Free, most students will be eligible for a Student Loan*.

*Student Loan criteria apply.

If you are paying for the course yourself, because we're a small institution we can be more flexible and offer payment in instalments.

The first instalment of $3,280.59 for the Foundations phase and then second of $9216.41 covers the remainder of the course fee and can be paid one month before the Bootcamp phase start date.

Or we could also discuss bespoke payment plans. Get in touch with us for a chat about more details.

What can I earn?

Starting salaries

It can be hard to imagine the total benefit of a lifetime wage increase. The average NZ coder can earn over $1.35 million over ten years - so this is a million dollar decision!

Junior Software Developers can expect a starting salary of $50,000 to $80,000 depending on location, employer and experience (the average is $65,000).  And once you become a mid-level developer, tech salaries grow fast, with the median salary for tech jobs being over $100,000 within 6 years. Just look at how much more developers are earning than the average NZ full time salary.
