Human Led, Tech Driven.
Our approach to learning is balancing human skills and technological expertise. We are guided by inclusiveness and human understanding and driven by modern technology.
This ensures our courses are intelligent and deeply attuned to the needs of our students, and the industry they’ll join. Employers tell us that our grads are faster at learning and work better with those around them because of the Humans Skills they learn alongside all the coding practice they get. This makes our graduates super employable.
Our core mission is to transform lives through innovative, human and inclusive tech education.
Explore all the reasons why Dev Academy is different below.
Premium, Trusted Learning
We’ve been propelling students into Developer roles for over 10 years and graduated over 1500 students. We are constantly tweaking our curriculum to ensure we’re offering our students the best possible learning experience to get a job, and that’s why NZQA has awarded us a Category 1 rating and why our graduates give us a 4.7/5 star recommendation rating.
Teaching tailored to you
Because it’s an intense programme, you get a level of mentorship and flexibility not found anywhere else. Low student to teacher ratios, highly accessible and hands-on teaching support, and the ability of our facilitators to tailor teaching to your individual learning style make us unique. Our students love it and it’s why a phenomenal 97% graduate our bootcamp
More time on the tools
Through coding every day, working on practical group and individual projects, and mimicking what happens in a real-life developer team you’ll get the confidence and technical skill to stand out. Employers tell us our graduates are faster to learn and grow, better at working in a team and have the technical skills to hit the ground running in their new job.
Soft skills for fast career progression
We teach the soft skills no one else is offering. These are the skills that set you apart when getting hired. Our unique Humans Skills curriculum will teach you about yourself and how you work with others, and will ultimately help you earn more, faster by being a better communicator, team member, manager or one day, leader.
We’re tight with the Tech Sector
The tech industry loves our grads! We teach only the tools and languages the sector is hiring for, not pointless theory. We know what companies are hiring for which roles and we help your job search during our careers weeks. That’s why 84%* of our grads are working in the tech industry within 18 months of graduating.
We’re made for everyone
Coders are a diverse bunch! Whatever your strengths, background, or learning style, we’ll help you become a Software Developer. We especially love helping underrepresented groups into the tech sector, graduating twice the number of women and 2.5x the number of Māori compared to a computer science degree.
The core values guide us
All staff and students are guided by our core values - Kindness. Integrity. Effort. We strive to weave our values of kindness, integrity, and effort into our everyday practice. These values are something that students experience as a special and powerful part of studying with us.
Aroha
KINDNESS, LOVE
Aroha is key to our mahi together, and in our personal lives.
Kindness comes first. All our actions and decisions have kindness as the first consideration, especially when it comes to our staff and students.
Kindness informs how we ask questions like: what support is needed, and how can we help? Kindness is the most important factor in connection between humans, and is key in resolving interpersonal struggles.
Pono
INTEGRITY
Pono speaks to the connections between our hearts, actions, and words.
Integrity means acting with an authentic commitment to your values. In practice, this means having the courage to communicate openly, to allow vulnerability, and to be willing to hold difficult conversations when necessary. Once you're acting with kindness and integrity, you need effort to back up your intentions.
Tika
EFFORT
Tika refers to the mahi that is not always seen. Embodying tika includes commitment, reliability, and determination.
At Dev Academy Aotearoa, we are kind to ourselves and others, we believe in what we do, and we work hard to do the right things and adapt to the needs of ourselves and our students.
